Introduction
The program collects information about potential entitlement to a
renovation or disabled-facility grant by asking a series of
questions.
The questions are grouped into sections, each of which
corresponds to an option in the main menu.
So there is, for example, an option called Earnings in the
Family menu corresponding to the section that asks about work
and earnings.
When you begin a new case, the program asks all the relevant
questions, in every section, the first time round. The case is not
complete until all the questions have been answered and the main menu is
displayed once more.
While answering questions, you can move back by clicking the
Back button, or by keying Alt-B. If you are at the
start of a section this moves back to the previous section, otherwise it
moves back to the start of the current section. This facility is handy
for correcting mistakes that you may make when replying to
questions.
Keying F1 while answering a question displays help
information relating to the question, which gives an explanation of the
meaning of terms used.
When all the questions are answered, the program performs the
appropriate calculations and displays the results in the result
box located just below the centre of the screen.
For details of the calculations, select the required option in the Output
menu. This opens a report screen in a web browser.
The main menu permits amendment of information entered previously. If
you select a menu option then the corresponding questions are asked
again, the results re-calculated automatically, and updated in the
result box. Again, this is handy for correcting mistakes - but it also
allows you to change details of the case circumstances in a 'what if'
fashion.
When you change an answer, the program may ask additional questions
that have now become relevant.
Cases can be saved for recall or amendment at a later date - the Save
and Load options in are described in the Case
menu topic.
