World War II Compensation Schemes
Where a payment of capital as compensation to a relevant person,
relevant person's partner, relevant person's deceased spouse, or the
relevant person's partner's deceased spouse, as a result of during the
Second World War:
- Being a slave or forced labourer
- Suffering property loss or personal injury
- Being a parent of a child who died
the amount of that payment will be disregarded as capital. Payments
of compensation may be made in more than one stage, and all such
payments should be ignored. This does not apply to war pensions.
If the payment was of £10000
, as
compensation for being held as a prisoner of war of the Japanese, then
that amount of the person's capital will be ignored indefinitely.
